Design Concept
The stadium's iconic roof was designed using form-finding techniques that minimize material usage while maximizing structural performance. The hyperbolic paraboloid geometry creates natural drainage patterns and resists wind uplift.
A ring of steel cables supports the PTFE membrane panels, which can be partially retracted to allow natural ventilation during cooler months. The entire roof weighs 60% less than a conventional truss system.
