Adaptive Facade
A kinetic facade system for a corporate headquarters that responds to sun position in real-time. Over 1,200 motorized panels rotate throughout the day to optimize solar shading and interior daylight levels.
Design Concept
Each panel is individually controlled based on solar radiation data and interior occupancy sensors. The system learns building usage patterns and optimizes for both energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
The triangular panel geometry was derived from Voronoi tessellation, creating an organic visual pattern while maximizing structural efficiency. Panels are fabricated from recycled aluminum with a reflective coating.
