Timber Pavilion

An organic timber structure exploring the limits of computational timber fabrication. Over 400 unique wooden slats create a flowing canopy that filters light while sheltering visitors in a public park setting.

Design Concept

Inspired by natural growth patterns, the pavilion's form was generated using differential growth algorithms. Each wooden slat follows a unique curvature calculated to create seamless visual flow.

The structure creates varying degrees of shade throughout the day, with peak solar protection during midday hours. Gaps between slats allow ventilation while maintaining visual privacy.
